Two Steps Back

I hate the sleep that follows crying, salty tears and soundless heartache. It pulls you under. It is dreamless. And when you eventually wake, you’re left with the ache of remembering what you were trying to forget in the first place. I found myself doing just that today. I was greeted with a loneliness I haven’t felt in some time. One I thought I’d left far behind. One step forward, two steps back.
